Volunteers needed

Published: 01 June 2023

The Riverfly Partnership is a dynamic network of organisations, representing anglers, conservationists, entomologists, scientists, water course managers and relevant authorities, working together to: protect the water quality of our rivers; further the understanding of riverfly populations; and actively conserve riverfly habitats.

Monitoring riverfly is an excellent way to protect river health while fostering local community, science and sustainability. Dorset AONB Partnership, together with Dorset Wildlife Trust, have organised two 'Introduction to the basic Riverfly monitoring programme' training sessions to take place this summer, on Sunday 30 July and Saturday 5 August.

Once trained, volunteers  would need to commit to continued Riverfly monitoring, once per month between April and September each year, with each sample taking approximately one hour to sort.
